FAQ's
How and Whom do we pay?
Private individuals - Please pay the service provider one fee, directly after each service. The fee is mentioned on your price list and on this web site. This fee includes an agency fee that is passed on by your service provider to ASSISTANZ. There is nothing extra to pay other than the once only initial $5 registration fee.
We have opted for this system as this is the simplest and least confusing way. If you calculate the fee incorrectly the service provider will tell you then and there.
(if you were transferring into a bank account and the amount was incorrect , we would have to get back to you and you would have to check and there would be a lot of going back and forwards!).
Commercial Payers - i.e registered business's. Please pay on receipt of invoice.
Should I pay by Cash, cheque or direct transfer to an account?
The preferred mode of payment is cash as providers do not look forward to going to a bank and waiting in queue to deposit cheques. If you are paying by cheque then service providers prefer cash cheques as there is no clearance time involved. Direct credit to their accounts is also acceptable if you have been a long term client and /or have many services in a week but it is not a preferred means of payment as mistakes are often made and service providers need to check and these checks can not be immediate but only some days later(after payment is received)
Commercial Payers- i.e registered business's. Please send a cheque or credit the Service Providers account directly on receipt of invoice. You may also pay cash if you choose.
Is there a minimum time for the service?
There is no minimum time but the minimum charge is for a one hour service. After one hour, the minimum increase in billable time is 30 mins. We do not bill for time periods less than 30 minutes.
Are there special rates for long hours?
Yes there are special rates for sleepovers (12 hour sessions) and 24 hour job and "Long Hours" day jobs.
Would Service Providers do all jobs?
Yes most Service providers will do all jobs – be it giving a shower or cleaning the toilets.
They will not do jobs that are health/life risks or that make them feel uncomfortable or are questionable in the eyes of law.
Can you explain domestic Workers Compensation insurance?
A few years ago all clients were asked to compulsorily take Workers compensation insurance.
(No agency can take this on your behalf even if they claim they can). The fee for a 3 hour fortnightly service was around $38 per year. The administration costs in terms of time and paper and effort exceeded the fee.
NSW Work Cover has now said that you are deemed to be covered as long as the fee you pay is under $7500 per year. If the fee you pay the Service Provider is likely to exceeds $7500 in a year you must ensure that you take Workers compensation insurance coverage.
It can be taken as part of your current household contents insurance policy or as a stand alone policy. Please call Work cover (NSW) on 131050 for a better and more accurate understanding.
Would I get the same person each time?
Yes we prefer sending you the same persons as there are administrative efforts and costs in organising different people. With new people we need to tell them your contact information, preferences, job description etc all over again. As far as possible we will send the same person to do your job.
What happens when I go on holidays or get unwell?
Services simply stop, and restart again when you come back. No costs for stopping or restarting services.
